Growing up in McKinney as the son of Carey Cox meant mastering the art of the perfectly round 4-foot-deep hole using a post-hole digger. "I was my father's go-to labor solution when he needed one of his industrial real estate signs erected, often right after Saturday morning football practice." "My father left very large shoes for us to try and fill." "If he were still here, he would point to a shovel and say, 'get to it.'"

For decades now, there has been no stronger real estate market in the country than in Texas and by any measure, Dallas is the epicenter. In a town peppered with legendary founding families of real estate, rarely does a day pass without headlines of progress and accomplishment. There is one form of recognition in Dallas, however, that to real estate brokers, is the ultimate accomplishment- The Stemmons Service Award. Founded in 1976, the Stemmons Service Award is a peer-nominated and peer-voted honor presented to the broker who best exemplifies the highest professional standards of a commercial real estate broker in North Texas.  For a real estate broker in Dallas, the Stemmons is their Oscar.  In 2001, my Dad Carey Cox won the Stemmons and in 2017, my brother Bill won.  In the 48 years since the Stemmons Award was started, we are the only family with two.
